On Sunday, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten achieved a monumental milestone by winning their first Nitto ATP Finals title together, outplaying Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski with a score of 7-5, 6-3 and ending Salisbury’s impressive two-time winning streak.
Having defeated Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori to reach their initial title match, the Finn-British duo displayed confidence and skill. Despite previously losing to Salisbury and Skupski in the round-robin phase, they bounced back spectacularly, improving their series record against the British duo to 3-2.

The second seeds wowed the crowd with spectacular passing shots and maintained a flawless serve, facing no break points during their victorious 80-minute match. This marks only the eighth occurrence in the tournament’s history where a team avenges a round-robin defeat to triumph in the finals.
“Words can’t fully express this moment,” Heliovaara shared. “All week, I’ve looked at the list of champions and thought, if my name could ever be there, I would feel immense pride. To share this with Henry is simply unreal.”
As the season concludes, Heliovaara and Patten proudly hold a remarkable 50-20 record, as documented by the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. They have also secured titles at the Australian Open, Paris, and Beijing.
After clinching victory in the Inalpi Arena, Heliovaara jubilantly dropped his racquet in triumph, while Patten raised his fist high in celebration. Adding to the joy, Patten became a double winner this week, having proposed to his longtime partner, Ellie Stone, in Turin.
“While the tennis has been exceptional, the engagement tops it all,” Patten exclaimed. “This whole experience feels surreal. Ellie has been my rock throughout the week, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have both her and Harri in my corner.”
Prior to this match, Salisbury had dominated with an impressive 14-match winning streak at the Nitto ATP Finals, having won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023 alongside Rajeev Ram, before missing out on qualification in 2024. Skupski, meanwhile, was competing in his first-ever final at this prestigious year-end event.
Despite their loss in the finals, the British duo had previously fought valiantly in the title matches at both Roland Garros and the US Open in 2025. They wrap up the season with a commendable 46-22 record.
