On Tuesday in Turin, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori electrified their home crowd by clinching a spot in the semi-finals of the Nitto ATP Finals with an exhilarating performance.

The Italian pair triumphed over Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos with a score of 7-6(4), 6-4, marking the continuation of their dominating presence at the season’s pinnacle event. After previously overcoming top seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in their first match, Bolelli and Vavassori’s one-hour and thirty-five-minute victory solidified their advancement to the knockout stages— a significant improvement from last year’s early exit.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” said Bolelli. “We had the chance to compete here last year, but this time we’ve come in more prepared and focused. The crowd is nothing short of amazing. I believe we showcased our best game today, even better than in our first match.”

The critical moment occurred late in a tightly contested first set. Serving at 4-4, Turin’s own Vavassori repelled three break points, igniting the Inalpi Arena with a stunning backhand return winner during the tie-break, which gave them a commanding 4/2 lead they never relinquished.

“The atmosphere was phenomenal. I deeply enjoyed these two matches,” Vavassori shared. “It’s one of the best environments I’ve ever played in. I always aim to engage the crowd respectfully while boosting energy levels, which is essential in doubles as the pace is quick. Live audiences really love watching doubles.”

With their perfect 2-0 record in the Peter Fleming Group—winning all four sets played—Bolelli and Vavassori are gearing up to face the defending champions, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz, in their final round-robin match on Thursday. This victory also marks their improved standing to 3-2 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series against Granollers and Zeballos.

Holding a commendable 37-20 record this year, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, the Italian team continues to build on a stellar 2025 campaign, which includes titles from Adelaide, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Washington.
