In a stunning display of talent, Joe Salisbury enhanced his exceptional Nitto ATP Finals record on Monday in Turin, partnering with Neal Skupski to triumph over Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic with a score of 6-3, 7-5 in the John McEnroe group.
Having lifted the coveted year-end trophy in both 2022 and 2023 alongside Rajeev Ram, Salisbury has now clinched 11 consecutive victories at this prestigious event. Although he missed qualification last year, this year heralded his first collaboration with Skupski in Turin. The duo impressively saved all seven break points they encountered, with the turning point appearing in the second set at 5-5, where Pavic was faulted for a foot violation that led to a pivotal double fault.
Consolidating their victory, the fifth seeds now boast a 3-1 lead in their Lexus ATP Head2Head encounters against Arevalo and Pavic, having also bested them in both Toronto and Cincinnati this season. Currently at 1-0 in the John McEnroe group, Salisbury and Skupski are set to face Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten, along with Christian Harrison and Evan King later this week.

Teaming up full-time this season, Salisbury and Skupski have achieved a commendable record of 43-21, according to the ATP Infosys Win/Loss Index. They reached Grand Slam finals at both Roland Garros and the US Open, in addition to title matches in Toronto, Barcelona, and Doha. While Salisbury boasts two titles in Turin, Skupski’s best finish at the year-end event was a semi-final appearance in 2022 with partner Wesley Koolhof.
Arevalo and Pavic, on the other hand, have claimed ATP Masters 1000 titles together in Indian Wells, Miami, and Rome this year. Last season, they narrowly missed the title in Turin, falling to Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in the final.
