This week, the thrilling climax of the 2025 ATP Tour unfolds at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, where the top eight players globally will clash for supremacy starting Sunday at Inalpi Arena.
Leading the charge, Carlos Alcaraz has had an exceptional year, but he’s in for tough competition from defending champion Jannik Sinner, who is currently in outstanding form. Also eyeing to add to his accolades is two-time winner Alexander Zverev, alongside Felix Auger-Aliassime, making his return after a three-year hiatus.
Debuting this year are promising players Ben Shelton and Lorenzo Musetti, while last year’s finalist Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur are poised to make their mark once again at Inalpi Arena. Explore the top storylines to watch out for in Turin.

1) Sinner Returns Home as Defending Champ: Following his maiden Nitto ATP Finals victory last year, Sinner is back on home turf, eager to defend his title. The 24-year-old Italian holds an impressive 26-match indoor winning streak, having claimed consecutive titles in Vienna and Paris as his last two outings.

2) Alcaraz Aims for His First Title: With a Tour-leading eight titles to his name in 2025, Alcaraz calls this his ‘best’ season yet. The 22-year-old Spaniard is now determined to secure his first Nitto ATP Finals trophy. Arriving in Turin, Alcaraz seeks to bounce back after a surprising early exit against Cameron Norrie in Paris.
3) Year-End No. 1 Showdown: The battle for the ATP Year-End No. 1 title, presented by PIF, reaches its crescendo in Turin, with Alcaraz and Sinner neck-and-neck. Sinner trails Alcaraz by 1,050 points in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin and must defend his title to have a chance at clinching the year-end No. 1 position for a second consecutive year.
Sinner’s destiny hinges on the strength of his performance, while Alcaraz can secure the top spot with a stellar showing—especially if the Italian falters. Read the full breakdown here.
4) Debuts for Shelton and Musetti: After a landmark season capped off by his first major title at the ATP Masters 1000 in Toronto, Ben Shelton steps onto the Nitto ATP Finals stage. He and Fritz mark the first duo of American men competing since 2006.
Lorenzo Musetti also joins the veterans, marking his Nitto ATP Finals debut. Over the season, he was the only player to reach at least the semi-finals in all three clay ATP Masters 1000 events and Roland Garros, culminating in a quarter-final appearance at the US Open.
Shelton finds himself in the Bjorn Borg Group alongside Sinner, Zverev, and Auger-Aliassime, with Zverev leading the series against Shelton 4-0, having met three times already this year, including a final match in Munich.
5) Zverev Sets Sights on a Hat-Trick: A regular at the event, Zverev is making his eighth appearance at the Nitto ATP Finals, having triumphed in 2018 and 2021. The German made it to his third major final at the Australian Open and clinched the ATP 500 title in Munich. Now, he aims for his third year-end championship to cap off another stellar season.

6) Fritz, De Minaur, and Musetti Join Alcaraz’s Group: After taking a win over Alcaraz at the Laver Cup recently, Fritz is keen to add another indoor victory against the Spaniard in Turin. Both will compete in the Jimmy Connors Group, which features De Minaur and Musetti. This marks De Minaur’s second consecutive appearance in Turin.
7) A Competitive Doubles Arena: Top seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool lead the doubles draw, facing stiff competition from Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos, defending champions Kevin Krawietz/Tim Puetz, and Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori in the Peter Fleming Group.
Additionally, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten are still contenders to overtake Cash/Glasspool in pursuit of the Year-End ATP Doubles No. 1 title presented by PIF. They currently lead the John McEnroe Group, which also includes Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic, Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski, and Christian Harrison/Evan King.
