RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Amanda Anisimova has advanced to the semifinals of the WTA Finals after a thrilling victory against second-ranked Iga Swiatek, triumphing with a score of 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old American showcased her determination, marking her second consecutive win over Swiatek, following a previous defeat in the Wimbledon final where she lost 6-0, 6-0.

Currently holding the No. 4 ranking, Anisimova also eliminated Swiatek during the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open.

In this match, Anisimova achieved the first break of serve in the second set, setting the stage for a decisive third. She faced just four break points throughout the match and successfully saved them all.

Anisimova and Rybakina will find out their semifinal opponents following Thursday’s concluding round-robin matches: top seed Aryna Sabalenka will take on defending champion Coco Gauff; meanwhile, Jessica Pegula faces off against Jasmine Paolini, who has already been eliminated from the competition.
