Canadian Cadence Brace will have to postpone her US Open dreams for now.

The Oakville, Ontario native faced a tough defeat against Veronika Erjavec, losing in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) on Thursday, which dashed her hopes of qualifying for the season’s final Grand Slam.

To earn a place in the main draw, players are required to secure three qualifying victories, with the tournament set to kick off on Saturday.

Earlier in the week, she celebrated her first qualifying win by overcoming Japanese veteran Nao Hibino in a thrilling match that ended with scores of 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

At just 20 years old, Brace is gearing up for her second season with the LSU tennis team.
