Victoria Mboko, a rising star from Canada, has climbed an impressive 61 spots to achieve a career-high ranking of No. 24 in the world, thanks to her extraordinary win at the National Bank Open, marking her first WTA Tour title.

The 18-year-old sensation from Toronto stunned fans by defeating four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka from Japan in a thrilling three-set showdown in Montreal on Thursday night.

Originally from Burlington, Ontario, Mboko’s ascent has been nothing short of remarkable this season.

After concluding the 2024 season ranked No. 350, she has since launched into an incredible 53-9 win streak, accumulating nearly $1.2 million in prize earnings along the way.

Before gearing up for the U.S. Open in New York, where she will make her debut as a seeded player at a Grand Slam, Mboko plans to take a short break to recover her sore right wrist.

In addition to her stunning achievements, Mboko has now established herself as the highest-ranked Canadian on the tour, overtaking Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Quebec, who has slipped to No. 26 in the rankings.
