Victoria Mboko has achieved something remarkable!

The talented 18-year-old from Canada triumphed over Japan’s Naomi Osaka with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Thursday night, seizing the women’s title at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.

This victory marks Mboko’s inaugural tour-level title, accomplished in just her seventh main draw match. Impressively, she has now become the second-youngest player in the Open era (since 1968) to defeat four Grand Slam champions in a single tournament.

With this win, the Toronto native is set to rise to No. 25 in the world rankings, having started the year outside the top 300, thus making her the highest-ranked Canadian woman.

Beginning the tournament ranked No. 85, Mboko now stands as the second-lowest-ranked WTA 1000 champion since the inception of this format.

As the champion, she takes home a prize of $752,275, nearly doubling her previous career earnings of $458,001.
