LOS CABOS, Mexico — In an impressive display of skill, Canada’s Denis Shapovalov dominated American Govind Nanda with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-2 during their second-round match at the Mifel Tennis Open on Wednesday.

Shapovalov showcased his power with four aces, balancing his performance with three double faults, all wrapped up in just one hour of play.

This match marked Shapovalov’s debut in the summer hard-court season after receiving a bye as the No. 3 seed in the opening round.

The Richmond Hill, Ont., star broke his opponent’s serve five times out of seven opportunities and achieved an impressive 73 percent success rate on first serves.

Nanda recorded one ace and had one double fault, with a 57 percent win rate on his first serve.

However, he only managed to break Shapovalov’s serve once out of four chances.

Next up for Shapovalov is a quarterfinal matchup against the winner of the clash between Australia’s Tristan Schoolkate and Germany’s Daniel Altmaier.
