LONDON — The soaring temperatures at Wimbledon were felt by both players and spectators alike during Thursday’s thrilling semifinal between top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova, which faced interruptions in the first set due to fans feeling ill.

Those affected at Centre Court were seated in the unshaded lower levels. On both occasions of disruption, Sabalenka graciously approached the fans, offering them a bottle of water and, during the initial break, a soothing blue ice pack.

The temperature soared to 31°C during the first set.

This prestigious grass-court tournament saw unprecedented heat on its opening day, with temperatures climbing to 33°C.
