LONDON — Wimbledon tennis players have been receiving penalties for loud outbursts, displays of unsportsmanlike behavior, and “mistreatment of rackets or gear.”

The All England Club revealed an updated fine list on Wednesday, highlighting that 2024 men’s doubles champion Henry Patten faces the largest penalty—$12,500—for verbal misconduct.

The British athlete and his doubles partner Harri Heliovaara celebrated their inaugural Grand Slam victory at Wimbledon last year.

Patten incurred his fine on June 29 due to what several British news outlets labeled as an alleged verbal incident involving a staff member at an off-site training venue. Patten has announced he will appeal the decision, pending the tournament’s conclusion.

Both Patten and Heliovaara faced elimination in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Amanda Anisimova, who is set to compete against top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals on Thursday, received a $4,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct during her fourth-round match against Linda Noskova.

French doubles player Theo Arribage was fined $7,500 for unsportsmanlike actions during his second-round match on Saturday, while fellow compatriot Adrian Mannarino followed closely with a $6,000 penalty for similar conduct in his second-round victory last week.

In total, seven male players have been fined so far, accumulating $36,000 in penalties. Meanwhile, eight women have faced fines totaling $29,500.

The largest individual fine on the women’s side is $5,000, levied against Elena Pridankina for unsportsmanlike behavior during the singles qualifying rounds in late June.

Chloe Paquet, Hailey Baptiste, and male players Alex Bolt and Zizou Bergs received fines for “audible obscenity.”

Colton Smith of the United States incurred a $2,000 fine for mishandling rackets or equipment.
