Montreal’s own Félix Auger-Aliassime has moved on to the third round of the Miami Open, showcasing his talent with a decisive 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Australian qualifier Tristan Schoolkate on Friday.

The 24-year-old Canadian displayed remarkable serving skills, winning an impressive 84 percent of his service points and delivering six powerful aces throughout the match.

Auger-Aliassime faced just one break point and successfully saved it, while also capitalizing on all 11 opportunities he had at the net.

When it came to returning serves, he broke Schoolkate twice out of nine attempts, including a quick break in the opening game of the second set, leading him to secure the win in just one hour and 27 minutes.

As the 18th seed in Miami, Auger-Aliassime boasts a strong 17-6 record this season, having already clinched two titles. He is set to face the winner of the upcoming matchup between 15th seed Lorenzo Musetti from Italy and France’s Quentin Halys.

In women’s second-round action later that same day, Victoria Mboko from Burlington, Ont., took on the 10th seed Paula Badosa of Spain.
