Danielle Collins illuminated the Hard Rock Stadium with her electrifying presence last spring, turning it into her own Danimal House.

Unfortunately, defending men’s champion Jannik Sinner won’t be competing due to a three-month suspension, leaving a void in South Florida.

However, four past male champions are slated to play, including No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz (2022) and No. 6 Daniil Medvedev (2023), alongside No. 20 Hubert Hurkacz, the 2021 winner over Sinner, and the six-time Miami Open champion Novak Djokovic, making his return since 2019.

Other notable past finalists in the mix include current Top 10 stars Alexander Zverev (No. 2) and Casper Ruud (No. 5), as well as Grigor Dimitrov and Kei Nishikori.

Exhibiting powerful backhands and an unwavering competitive spirit, Collins clinched the 2024 Miami Open title by defeating Elena Rybakina with a score of 7-5, 6-3 in a thrilling final match.

Ranked 53rd, Collins made history by denying 10 of 11 break points, becoming both the lowest-ranked champion in Miami Open history and the first American woman to take home the title since fellow Floridian Sloane Stephens in 2018.

“That was a battle. This whole week has been tough,” Collins shared with her Miami supporters. “I’ve played against some of the best players in the world.”

The world’s elite will assemble again, as all Top 10-ranked women—including No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, No. 2 Iga Swiatek, No. 3 Coco Gauff, No. 4 Jasmine Paolini, and No. 5 Jessica Pegula—prepare to compete.

Returning is No. 7 Rybakina, a finalist for the last two years, alongside former champions Naomi Osaka and Jelena Ostapenko.

Standing at No. 12 in the rankings, Collins is among six Americans featured in the WTA Top 20, joined by No. 3 Coco Gauff, No. 5 Jessica Pegula (the recent Australian Open champion), No. 6 Madison Keys, No. 9 Emma Navarro, and No. 18 Amanda Anisimova.

On the men’s side, four Americans from the ATP Top 20 will also compete: No. 4 Taylor Fritz, No. 9 Tommy Paul, No. 13 Ben Shelton, and No. 18 Frances Tiafoe.

Approximately 25 players—12 men and 13 women—under 22 years old are participating, highlighted by 21-year-old Alcaraz and Delray Beach native Gauff, who will celebrate her 21st birthday on March 13th.

The youngest competitor in the ATP is 18-year-old Joao Fonseca, while the WTA’s youngest entry is 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva.

This year’s roster features every eligible man among the Top 77 ATP players and every woman within the Top 72 WTA players, hailing from 37 different countries.

Notably, the following players have entered with an injury-protected ranking: Jenson Brooksby, Nick Kyrgios, Reilly Opelka, Sorana Cirstea, Lauren Davis, and Caty McNally.
