BELGRADE, Serbia — Novak Djokovic is set to kick off the new tennis season at the highly anticipated Brisbane International tournament, a crucial warmup ahead of the prestigious Australian Open.
“I’m thrilled to launch my Australian campaign at the Brisbane International and compete once again at the iconic Pat Rafter Arena,” Djokovic shared, as he sets his sights on achieving his remarkable 100th tour-level title.
This marks just the second appearance for Djokovic at this event, where he faced defeat to Ernests Gulbis in the first round back in 2009.
The tournament will run from December 29 to January 5, featuring a stellar lineup that includes Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and Nick Kyrgios.
As a 24-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic holds the record for the most weeks ranked No. 1 in the history of tennis.
Last month, he revealed that he has teamed up with Andy Murray as his coach for the Australian Open – a Grand Slam event that he has impressively won 10 times.
The much-anticipated Australian Open is set to begin on January 12.
The 37-year-old Djokovic’s 2024 season saw him clinch only one title, but he made history by securing his first Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games this past August.
