Saturday, August 11, 2012 - San Diego - Las Vegas junior tennis player Kimberly Yee won the United States Tennis Association's National Championships today in the girls 16's singles. Yesterday Yee won the National Championships in the girls 16's doubles with partner Marianna Gould.

Kimberly's Yee's victory is the second time in her career that she has won both the singles and doubles at the national championship. To win the singles final Yee beat Katerina Stewart 6-2, 6-2. Her victory secured her a wild card into this years US OPEN Junior main draw.

Kimberly Yee is part of the USTA's National Junior Tennis and Learning chapter in Las Vegas, the Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation, which strives to inspire youth through mentoring, tennis and education. Within the foundation she is part of the elite "Team Bryan" travel team, sponsored and supported by the world's best doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan.

"Yee has also gotten a lot of help by the national USTA high performance department," said Ryan Wolfington who is the Executive Director of the Nevada district. "USTA National did a great job of helping Yee get to the next level by giving her a wild card into last years US OPEN juniors where she went four rounds. She gained a lot of confidence form that experience"

Coached by her father Adam, Kimberly Yee trains at Tim Blenkiron's NO QUIT Tennis Academy at Lorenzi park and she credits her support system there for her success.

"Without my father coaching me every day of my life I would not be here today," said Yee. "Without my NO QUIT teamates I would not love what I do. I love playing tennis, I love teaching children in our foundation and I love having a team that is like family."

Kimberly's family includes her mother Gabrielle who works late night shifts to make ends meet, her brother who reached the national championship finals this year and will be going to Vanderbilt on scholarship in the fall, and her father who has devoted much of his life to his children's tennis.

Kimberly's goal is to use tennis as a vehicle to get into a top University and to play professional tennis at the highest levels. As part of the Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation's leadership program Kimberly is a volunteer mentor and coach to countless at risk youth giving back on a weekly basis to the same foundation that helps her. Yee has straight A's at the Odyssey Charter School in Las Vegas and is fifteen years of age going into her sophomore year.

Kimberly is the first player in Las Vegas history to ever win two national championships in doubles and singles. While still an amatuer Kimberly has started playing some women's USTA Pro circuit tournaments, like the one that is held each fall in Las Vegas.
