Stan Tomchin, a Turnberry resident and Stirling Club member, got so inspired by the children he sponsored through VegasTennis.com's Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation that he paid for 6 of them to fly to Vancouver for a club exchange to play tennis, experience the culture and education of this international city. Their lucky destination was one of the worlds most beautiful cities and the historical Jericho Tennis Club.

The children chosen had to have a 3.5 grade point average and be part of the foundations "leadership program. Stan, one of the clubs higher level players, often needs to hit with some of the top members and nationally ranked juniors to get a good game. In the summers he lives in Vancouver and wanted to show the Hennesy Foundation children this beautiful city, while at the same time introducing his tennis club members in Vancouver to these "wonderful children."

"I want to help expand their minds so they can experience a different country and culture," explained Tomchin. "I knew that creating an exchange with my tennis club in Vancouver and the Stirling club would be a win for everyone. The members loved them and many now want to come down to Las Vegas."

Thanks to Carol Richards - Vice President & Membership director, Rashid Aziz - Secretary / Treasurer , finance, Joanne Webster - Facilities Director, Robin Harper - Planning Director, Paddy Penn - Squash Director, Chris Clark - Tennis Director, Carolyn McCallum - Social Director, John Picken and Jonathan Dewsbury the Junior Director at Jericho Tennis Club this was all made possible. The children were set up with matches with adults and juniors from their prestigious club.

Stan treated the children to a first class trip. "It is the first time I have gone to another country and Stan treated us so well," explained Patrick Kawka who is also ranked top 60 in the United States and hopes to be the 20th child from VegasTennis.com's marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation to get a scholarship to college. "He took us to the best restaurants, we played at a very nice club, went to the beach, it was the best trip of my life."

"I enjoy seeing the members get involved with the children our foundation helps," explained Hennessy. "If not for the Stirling Club members what we do with the foundation would not have been possible."

Stan has already invited the adults and juniors from Vancouver to come and enjoy tennis in sunny Las Vegas during their winter months. Marty Hennessy is already planning this unique tennis exchange.
