During the 1950's, the property now occupied by The Las Vegas Country Club was the site of a thoroughbred racetrack named Las Vegas Downs. When the racetrack went into bankruptcy, the property was purchased by an investor named Joe W. Brown.
Brown later sold it to Marvin Kratter of Nevada Equities who proceeded to build the country club. The golf course was completed in the fall of 1967, followed by the completion of the clubhouse in April of 1968. Mr. Kratter opened it under the name of The Las Vegas International Country Club and operated it as such until he sold it to a Strip hotel named the Bonanza. The club was renamed The Bonanza Country Club and Corral. In late 1970, it was sold to four partners of Realty Holdings (Moe Dalitz, Harry Lahr, Nate Adelson and Irwin Molasky) who renamed it The Las Vegas Country Club, and made it a private country club in July of 1971 eventually making the club a true equity membership Club that has operated as such to this date.
The Las Vegas Country Club was host to the PGA's Las Vegas Invitational and the LPGA's Takefuji Classic in years past. Winners of these prestigious events have included many household names such as; Greg Norman, Curtis Strange, Kristi Kerr and Lorena Ochoa. Most recently the facility hosted the 2007 Nevada Women's State Amateur Championship as well as a visit from the 2007 Callaway Junior Series, a summer tour which features premier junior players from throughout the country. The parkland golf course is a pure pleasure to play and will test players shot making skills throughout the round. The backdrop to several holes pans the Las Vegas cityscape and provides a truly unique visual experience to accompany the finely manicured course.

The Las Vegas International Country Club first tennis pro was Ann Rockwell (Las Vegas Tennis Hall of Fame) when speaking with her, she talked about owner Marvin Kratter who also owned the Boston Celtics. The Celtics won the NBA Championship that year and came to the club and she played tennis with some of the greats. Ann was the tennis pro for several years and then Mike and Lornie Kuhle took over the tennis in the early 70's. The Kuhle boys were very big into tennis and brought a lot big names to the club. Lornie, coach to Jimmy Conners and close friend to Bobby Riggs always had fun people at the club. Then in 1976 Mike and Lornie moved on and made way for Herb Rapp, where he stayed for six years. Herb also was a wonderful pro and was always bringing fun and exciting events to the club. Then in 1981 Johnny Lane was introduced as the new Director of Tennis. Johnny has been the Director from 1981 until present.

Also during this time the tennis has had its share of celebrities. In the movie world the club has been used to film movies and commercials. Robert Redford, George Cloony, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, even as recent as this year Elton John and Cher have played at LVCC.

Former world #1 Andre Agassi who is the only man to have won all four majors (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open) and the Olympic Gold, has used the LVCC for many years. Lindsey Davenport former women's singles #1 and David Pate and Scott Davis former #1 doubles in the world. It has been a pleasure to have all of the wonderful celebrities at the LVCC.

As the Director of Tennis for the past 28 years, Johnny Lane has coached many adults and juniors. Juniors being the one thing that the club did not have on a national level, Johnny decided to change this and introduce a junior program that targeted this need. During this time we have helped over 120 children to play the nationals and get into college on tennis scholarships. He has coach boys and girls, as one of the USTA National Coaches and lead the Intermountain Jr Davis Cup Team to a National Title in 2000. He was chosen Coach of the Year in 2000 and this year will be his 17th years as Jr Davis Cup Coach for the Intermountain Section. In 2005 Johnny Lane was presented with Nevada and USTA-Intermountain's highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Johnny has trained over 600 kids to work as ball boys and girls for all the major events in Las Vegas. From the local challengers held at UNLV to Legends Tournament at Thomas and Mack, US Men's Davis Cup at Caesars, US Ladies Federation Cup at Mandalay Bay, and the Tennis Channel Open for three years at the Darling Tennis Center.

LVCC Johnny Lane Jr. Summer Camp programs have introduced or helped thousands of children play tennis. The summer camp is in its 28th year and for 2009 looks to have another wonderful turnout. This camp boasts indoor courts!
