Alyse Lysgaard of Las Vegas, Nevada a senior and member of the Laurel Springs School National Honor Society, has been nominated to compete in the National Honor Society scholarship. The National Honor Society is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Marilyn Mosley, founder and executive director of Laurel Springs School today announced the nomination, which places Lysgaard in the national competition. This year the program will once again award $200,000 in college scholarships. As a feature for the 2008 program, special recognition and additional awards will be presented to state and regional winners, along with the selection of one national recipient who will receive a $13,000 award.

"We are proud to have one of our top tennis players also achieve such great things in the classroom," said USTA-Nevada Executive Director Ryan Wolfington. "With great tennis and great gardes that often leads to a great college scholarship."

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan were crowned ATP World Tour Doubles Champions for the fifth time in seven years after defeating Max Mirnyi and Andy Ram 7-6(5), 6-3 to win the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Sunday at The O2 in London.

For the second year in a row, the battle for the year-end No. 1 ATP Doubles Team Ranking came down to the last match of the season, with the Bryans needing to win the title to reclaim the crown they previously held in 2003 and ?05-07.  Last year they lost out to Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in a winner-take-all final at the season climax in Shanghai. The Bryans came into the ATP World Tour Finals with only a slim chance of finishing No. 1 in the 2009 ATP Doubles Team Rankings.  They trailed their rivals, Nestor and Zimonjic, by 830 points and had lost their past two matches on the ATP World Tour.  The twins were ominously defeated by Mirnyi and Ram in their opening round-robin match, but hit back strongly and played what they later claimed was their best match of the year to clinch the title.

With Andre Agassi's new Biography ready to hit books shelves Monday November 9th many are speculating as to why the tennis great was so honest with his life story. Some have even gone so far as to criticize his decision to be so "Open."

Andre Agassi faces adversity, stares it in the eye and triumphs; That has been the pattern of his life. His example has loomed as the classic hero, filled with challenges and foes only to slay the dragon time and time again. He overcame poverty, the rigors of training, tough losses, divorce and now he reveals in 1997 at the low point of his life he beat back the demons of drug use. This, right before the story book reversal of fortune that ended with grand slam titles, a ground breaking charitable foundation, and most importantly a happy life with wife Stephanie Graff and their two children in Las Vegas.

Darling Tennis Center hosted the 2009 National Open Championships presented by Snell and Wilmer. The sleepless Vegas weekend included the National Team Championships(Open-Level), the Snell & Wilmer Tennis Challenge and a blow-out Disco that doubled as the players' party. The National Championships and the Tennis Challenge benefited the American
Cancer Society and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Many of the guests also attended Agassi's Grand Slam For Children which raised close to 8 million to benefit at-risk children through education.

This year, over 400 Open-Level players competed on nearly 40 men's and women's squads for the national team title. In a unique twist on registration, the Championships' sponsor eliminated the tournament entry fee. Instead, each team made a donation to the Cancer Societies in order to participate in the event.
